How does it affect your research?

Plagiarism can be broadly defined as copying the work of others without providing due credit. Specifically, in the context of research, you cannot include another person’s findings, thesis, conclusion…etc., without providing a proper citation.
It is extremely important for you to remove any sort of plagiarism from your research/thesis because your university will check your Master’s thesis or dissertation for plagiarism as part of the evaluation process.
But checking the whole thesis, hundreds of pages for plagiarism might not be easy for you.
